CSS3 Browser Compatibility

CSS3 Advancements and Best Uses

Thinking about the best uses of CSS3, what has changed you might ask yourself. While we haven’t completely gotten away from the use of images as backgrounds and buttons, this infographic shows just how far web development has come with the use of CSS3 and how CSS3 can be used today while developing. Without the heavy use of graphics, CSS3 allows for much faster load times and much smaller file sizes.

Is that it though?

Less images in backgrounds? The use of CSS3 doesn’t stop there as you will see. While most elements in this infographic are cross browser compatible, you will notice, most do not begin to be compatible with IE until IE9. Whether a development firm or individual developer chooses to support it or not, it’s safe to say IE6 is still being used today.

As a personal choice, I would love to think clients would be happy to accept subtle differences in a design, provided the experience and interface is alike, while perhaps not exact. That won’t always be the case, but one can always hope.

If you are interested in seeing what some of these subtle differences might be, take a look at the infographic. You may see how CSS3 could improve your design and workflow.
